Social Contract in room 30!

We have just asinged a new social contract in room 30, and it has changed everything! A few days ago Mrs. Vazquez had our groups come up with ideas for what to put on the social contract (and I think we did pretty good) so our teacher had everyone sign it, if they agreed. Now when ever we’re off task she points to the contract, and most of us shape up.

More on Orbiting Jupiter (Spoiler alert!)

If you want to read orbiting Jupiter I would sujest not reading this if you want to read Orbiting Jupiter. After reading about the characters in the book, our teacher had us write a letter to one of the characters in the book. I whent above and beyond and did two letters to Maddie and Joseph’s dad.

Dear Maddie,

Your little girl is beautiful, she’s walking and talking now and she’s living with an amazing family. You and Joseph must be so proud, and so happy. If you didn’t know when you and Joseph were together, he would walk 7 miles just for you in the cold, the rain, and sometimes in the snow. When you past, he couldn’t live with himself knowing that you were gone. The only other thing he had in his life was Jupiter. He traveled on foot in a snowstorm going door to door looking for her, with him thinking of you the entire time. Eventually Jupiter’s foster mom was found. Sadly Joseph never got to see Jupiter before he past. Joseph still got his way even when he sacrificed his life, when he past he still got to see you.

Dear Joseph’s dad,

You have ruined the lives of many. Just to buy a new truck you would put your own child in danger. To be honest I get it, money means a lot… But it’s not what matters. You tried to kill your son, your family, but instead you killed yourself and him. You should have left the money behind and let your child be, for what you did you made it so Joseph can never see Jupiter. Finally becoming used to his family and friends, you take it all away. What did you get from doing what you did? Was it worth it?

Orbiting Jupiter

Orbiting Jupiter is this book we just read as a class and it was fantastic! This story gives vivid details and makes us hold on to our seatbelts. Many feelings are showed Hope, Suffering, Love, and even Forgiveness.

While we were reading orbiting jupiter our teacher insisted that we did a mind map we splattered all our ideas and evidence out on the mind map while we wee reading to find the main jist of the story (very colorful)
